The St. Ives Carine masterplan was part of a series of investigations MJA undertook in 2013 looking at a new generation of retirement development that could meet the desires and aspirations of the baby boomer generation. MJA harnessed its experience in creating modern hospitality spaces by designing communal facilities that the baby boomers and their kids would be happy to spend many hours in.
Fixed retirement incomes ensure that resource efficiency is a key driver of communal infrastructure and demands extensive PV arrays, gas heating, waterwise fixtures and landscaping. Dual aspect apartments have balcony spaces on both sides to allow residents to occupy a winter/summer space and to control their interaction with other residents.
