Location: Canning & Stirling Hwy, East Fremantle
Budget: 45 million
Status: Schematic Design
In 2014 MJA were engaged in collaboration with Space Agency and Placelab to complete a feasibility study for a high profile site in East Fremantle at the confluence of Stirling and Canning Highways. The proposal seeks to minimise overshadowing to existing southern residences, while maximising potential views through the port to the ocean and across the residential valley.
The form of the building experiments in subtraction to mitigate mass and providing sculptural expression reflecting the alignment of the adjacent vehicular axes. The ground plane is freed for much of the site permitting extensive public space and ventilated break out spaces and ample natural lighting.
