Budget: 15 Million
Status: Completed August 2016
The project exists within the evolving St. Ives / Cedar Woods Carine Masterplan and caters for local residents of the area who are not ready to make the transition to the adjacent retirement or aged care facilities and also for the children of residents who want to be close by and make the most of the established surrounding sites facilities.
Amber apartments comprise a mix of 1bed, 2bed and generous 3bed residences over 4 levels totalling 50 units. The built form expresses exaggerated rectilinear volumes floating over the coastal heath. The excellent views and aspect are captured through tightly framed balconies. The exposed westerly façade is protected by deep overhands and vertical louvres. The mass of the project is split down the centre which affords increased light and ventilation whilst permitting a unique identity between each building united by a covered pedestrian link at ground level. Each half responds to its unique condition - one highway and the other suburban.
